A new method to reduce motion artifact in electrocardiogram based on an innovative skin-electrode impedance model

The electrocardiogram (ECG) is sensitive to human body motions when it measured with dry metal electrodes. A common hypothesis in previous literature dealing these subjects postulate that this due the skin-electrode impedance variability. This paper aims verify by investigating origin of noise ECG signal and finding suitable solutions reduce disturbance. For reason, experiments are proposed here explore relationship between for several motions. Results demonstrate equally comes from electrochemical equilibrium break reduction–oxidation reaction at interface. Moreover, has been shown lead sweat thickness variations skin-electrodes capacitance variations. To model phenomenon, an electrical based on a variable capacitor introduced. Finally, significant reduction solution monitoring proposed.
